I'm seeing a few drops of gear oil coming from this weep hole only when i have the motor tilted up. It smells and feels like gear oil , its not residual gas / oil. Is this anything i should be concerned about ? I haven't changed the gear oil since spring so i'm not sure if water is getting in the gear case. I also put a new bearing carrier in with prop shaft seals in early this year.

If the gear oil is getting out, most likely there is water getting in. Cheap investment to drain the existing oil out of the gear case and see if there is water in it or not. Good starting point.

A well used 30 year old motor needs a seal kit !----All seals including the o-ring on the shift rod.

I was thinking along the same lines and getting that complete seal kit for $50-$60 dollars. Thanks for the input!
