Re: Drop Shot bass fishing

Hey guys,

Just when i though i had the boat fixen in my grasp....BLAM.

I went out and bought the 30 S.S. bolts, nuts and washers to fix it with.

Then i looked at the bottom of the boat one more time and found out it has 50 B,N,and washers...RRRRRRR

Oh well...I got a head start. By the time i get those in i will have enough $ for the other 20.

Bkelly,

Yea its a saltwater gimmic for trout and other fish (mostly trout).

It is a jig head with a grubb body floated under a cigar bobber or cajun thunder bobber rig so that the jig/grubb bounces just above the grass. TROUT KILLER. you just do the same as with a jig....but the bobber imatates the sound of feeding trout....witch draws in other trout, and so on.

The reverse za-bee-da part is with "dog on carpet style gung fu" the jig/grubb is kept above the grass because of the pull of the rod instead of hanging under the bobber.

The butterfly knot is a killer one...its just takes a little more work.

Cross the line once to make a loop

take a toothpick (or match...something of that size) and lay it across the line where it crosses itself.

Turn it about 7 times (twist the toothpick up into the line) so there is several twists on eather side of the toothpick.

then stick the top of the loop into the hole where the toothpick is....pull it through and pull the line on each side tight.

It makes a real pretty knot with a kinda noose deal on the top and bottom of the loop....real strong too.

It gets easier with a little practice.

A shoafin monk should always be proficent in " bounceing monkey style gung fu "

In my 12ft jon, my daughter ripped a minnow from my flavor saver...up the side of my sniffer...and bounced it off my eyebrow  . How i did not get hooked i do not know....." bouncing monkey " saved the day once again! You can't use " hidden dragon style gung fu" on your daughter...so ya just gotta grin-and-bear it.

Luckywood.

 ..... Update .....

The Dog On Carpet style gung fu ( aka Drop Shot)
has been successful. During heavy fishing
pressure it helps tremendously. In stained water
where visibility is limited a larger plastic with
a rattel inserted works great
( Bull Mastiff on carpet gung fu) :D

This rig has been killer on the Kentucky bass in 6-8' depths.

Derwood hows the fishing in your neck of the woods?

Kinda spoty,

Not any one type of fish inperticular at any one time.

End of summer is kinda funny that way. Still hot and so is the water temp. but changes are around the corner....and the fish are acting funny because of it. I'm still catching them but its a hit or miss kinda thing.....Fishing for one fish may get two of another kind.

Fresh water in my neck of the woods is also changeing....We have been in a drought, but in the last 2 months we have had ALOT of rain and the river is full to the brim.....Highest I have seen it in 3 years. right now the fish seem to be playing musical chairs....who cares, as long as we're fishen its all good.

I am working alot so my fishing has been limited, not to mention this darn computer....Since last zap I have been trying to get it back on track. It's comming along, but slowly.

Derwood.

Mabe fishing will get better there soon. Just go
red fishing and catch that 50# snook you have
been chasing. Oh and watch out for the sharks. I
here they dont like tatoos on there back. :D

I have had good year so far. We had a cool front
move thru and it is nice here, mid 80's high.Mabe
the thermoclines will change and stir up some
stuff and start a feeding frenzy for the fish
this weekend. I hope to be on the water all
weekend.

when you try drop shotting for the first time make sure you get a couple packs of roboworms. They are the prefect for drop shotting.they help to biuld tour confidence in this rig.the bass eat them them up 3 to 1 to any other.
