driveshaft??

I am working on my alpha1 gen1 gimble housing. I've installed a new housing and I have I new drive shaft but its from a gen2 are they the Same?? When I try to put it through the gimble bearing it stops right before the seals, should it go in freely? When I put the lower unit back on what gear should I have it in and how can I tell that gear its in.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Have ya Aligned it yet,..??

The input shafts are the same....

In forward, the shift foot will be Straight ahead,....
