Must admit it happened to me not long after I learned to drive and had just passed my test. Being a poor slob at the time (actually, nothing changes
) I had an old-style Mini. The accelerator cable was badly frayed and I knew it, just couldn't afford to do much about it and didn't think for one minute of the consequences. Was driving at around 60 when I took my foot of the pedal as I was coming up to tailed back traffic and the car just kept going. I can honestly say that the second thing I did was switch off the engine. The dry-cleaners sorted out the first thing I did
