Re: Drilling the transom...

Yep, I wondered about that too when I got the motor but these brackets/arms aren't machined for the lock bolts. The brackets angle inward from the top and are machined on the back side to fit against the plate on the back of the motor's transom hanger. It also has the traditional tilt pin and lock/release latch on the front of the transom clamp. Must have been common on the larger 75 and 80 hp's but not on the 60?

Re: Drilling the transom...

Update to this thread: Got the Sportfour on the transom, with the help of an engine hoist and a couple of carpenter's squares to get the holes drilled right. Used 3M 4200 to seal everything up. Then I spent a few days rewiring the motor from dash to the junction box that bolts on the transom...the old harness was toast. Finished painting the top cowl Friday, and got the cable-n-pulley steering hooked up Saturday. Today I took the rig for a test run down the road behind my 69 F250...never pulled the boat with this truck since getting it last Christmas. Did a 20-mile round trip...even slipped by a copper with my expired trailer tag...and the truck drove like it had nothing at all on the hitch. Here's a couple of pix below. Thanks to all those who offered helpful advice in getting this chore done...it's a shame I had to roll it back in the garage until the spring thaw...70 degrees here today, tempted to go fishing.
