I had a previous post where I had some damage to my outdrive - the cavitation plate more specifically. I took it to the shop and had it welded but when I got it back the welds have not been grinded down. Is this for a reason or can I grind them down with a flapper type grinding wheel so it looks a little nicer. Thanks for any advice.

If the welder knew how to weld aluminum you can.
I would start with a carbibe burr made for aluminum first, then finish it with a sanding roll.
