I have removed (thanks to paultjohnson & craze1cars) my mashed up prop and will get a new one this week.

I don't want need top speed but quicke hole shot and wakeboarding.
Has anyone with a Q4 220hp, (now an Q5) changed a prop for these reasons with success?

I didn't want to post this on the prop forum for a reason as I want specific Tahoe advice.

The prop I have says; 14.25 x 21P

More information is needed. What pitch prop do you have now? What is the RPM at WOT?

I think that I would go to the 14x23 prop, it works great behind this motor. It works great behind the Q5 a heavier boat.

i would think a 14 x 19 would give you a better holeshot. 14x23 will give you higher top speed.

That's what I need, better hole shot, not bothered about top speed.
Are there any other drawbacks if I get a 14x19?

no real drawbacks except for top speed. you really need to determine what rpm you have at WOT. Then you can better determine what would be appropriate. if your boat is lugging with a 21, you might skip the 19 and go with a 17.......bring back some numbers. you might want to look into a 4 blade also if you want a good holeshot...

I have ordered a replacement 14x 21 and will fit that and get some WOT/RPM numbers for you guys.
Then maybe you can help me decide which way to go.

Luckily I've found a Michigan Wheel office here and can I get an aluminum prop for $108.00.
They can supply all types of MW props so I'll have a choice.

Thanks for your help guys.

19P High Five for sure.. I have an 09' O5 with the 4.3L and this made a huge difference for wakeboarding... top speed went from 47 to 42 but man it pulls hard now. Go to propgods.com I had a post there with some details. I got lucky and found one dirt cheap on craigslist. Good luck

Re: Down to earth Prop advice - Now REALLY P**sed!

I picked up my replacement prop from Michigan Wheel and quickly went home to fit it on Sunday ready to take the boat out.

Found that the hub fitting was different.
Instructions with the new prop said that if I have a Flo-Torque prop I need a different castle washer and some other washers and to not use the Flo-Torque sleeve etc.
Went back to MW, they said they didn't realise what prop I had even though I left the damn thing with them so that they could get the right one.
I went back today as I want to use the boat tomorrow and Saturday.....Guess what? no parts delivery yet.

What shall I do tomorrow? Sulk?

Thanks mschmidt33, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. And your Q5 is 20ft isn't it?
Who makes the High 5?

The High 5 is a Mercury prop:

It's pretty expensive but I hear it's a damn nice prop. You can alternatively get the QuickSilver QST-5, which is the exact same prop without the vent holes and less of a polish for a little cheaper. (Be careful where you buy a QST-5 from .. I hear they tend to be unbalanced often. I got mine from propgods.com so I hope it's nicely balanced.) I just got my QST-5 recently but have not tested it in the water yet.
