Re: Down for a few hours?

I thought that the system went down because due to the massive amount of rain
In which case
1. Noah was moving the system to a safer environment:D
2. They forgot to put the PFD on the system and a flash flood washed it away:laugh:

And here I thought it was my new keyboard that I just hate! One of those new split ones! I need an ol fashion one w/o all the bells and thingies.

Less pain and muscle relaxers may help also!!!!!!! Dam back, muscle relaxers have me running to the bathroom about every 20 min, too.

Re: Down for a few hours?

They had to upgrade off of XP. That takes a couple of hours. ;)

Admin - thanks for keeping the forum alive. Keeping the back end 1s & 0s in line can be a thankless job.

Glad you appreciated the subtlety of 3.1; funny how many kids will not even know what a CD is let alone a floppy disk.

New, high end, Dell laptop doesn't have a DVD/CD drive.

Here I thought we were using an old Apple system.

Maybe the old penquin system would work better!

No kiddin' - Even the tech-heads tend to forget that floppy disks were 7" at one time.

I've been on Macs for a while now ... and they off load drives faster than the Windoze boxes do.

Just seen a commercial with an older woman that placed her coffee cup in the CD tray. That was truely funny.

Come on, 7" drives were tiny, we were thrilled when they came out, they allowed us so much more room in such a small space, you should have been around when we had to store all of those darn punch cards!

I remember when we first discovered that we could log onto other peoples computers and make the CD tray go in and out, I remember calling my Dad and telling him to go in and watch his computer, then I opened and closed the CD tray a half dozen times while I was over 1000 miles away from him, he was amazed, now it is called hijacking and if you get caught you can go to jail, or get a job!

LOL

Did the same thing a couple of times :)

I also remember a little program that went around as a "thank you" from Coca-Cola (totally bogus). When you clicked on it, the screen would go red and it big white letters it said that you'd won a FREE CUP HOLDER! ... and a second later your CD tray would automatically open. :D

That commercial with the older woman, Gramma as it were, to me was absolutely hysterical. Great place to put a nice hot cup of coffee!!! And easily at arms reach to boot.
