Donzi Sweet 16
I found this boat for sale and wanted to know if anyone has heard of this model. I know of Donzi brand, but the seller said there was only 10 of this model in the WORLD. My first thought was, How do you know? Then it made me think that these were special for some reason. He wants $3500 for the hull on a trailer. The pix dont show a Lot but the outer hull looks like it needs paint, at least. From what I can see, the interior looks presentable, trailer is servicable. Price seems pretty stiff seeing that it still needs power.
OK, let em fly!

Lordy611: Didn't ans all of your question about Donzi Boats,Yes they were spacial Limited Edition, were pretty fast, and a good Hull design
I think the builder designer was Don Arronow (sp)
He also built Formulas,Thunderbirds, and other Brand boats,He was champion Off Shore Power Boat Racer. He was Shot to death leaving his boat plant.
Cant help yuo with value,3500 seem high.

There are a lot more than 10 of this model out there. Donzi still builds them as the Classic 16. After a quick search, it looks like the early models are pretty high value. I found one site asking $18,500 for a '67 model. 1967 Sweet 16
I know of at least four or five in my immediate area, so they aren't all that rare.... several older ones and several of the newer "classic" models...
- Scott

Re: Donzi Sweet 16

well i have worked on the 16' and 18 ' models of this boat that my friends owned and they are great.

BUT it most likely had Eaton Interceptor Sterndrive which will have the wrong hole in the transome if you want to put in a new drive

good luck trying to get parts for it :D it was hard 20 years ago

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=eaton+interceptor&btnG=Search

The next big problem is the steel fuel tank its under the full fiberglass liner in the bow of the boat.

We had to change tanks on both boats and the only way is to remove the rub rail and screws and cut all the fiberglass work that held the upper and lower hulls toghter.

this is a lot harde than it sounds because the boat is so well built.

then you use the lifting eyes and raise the one piece upper hull/liner to get at the tank

then you get to put it all back toghter again and glass it back toghter :D

It came out great but it was a lot of work

tommays
