staged or not, that proves absolutely nothing. there are too many variables for anyone to evertest boats like that...

This thread is about the torque characteristics of two and four stroke engines. Absent a turbo or supercharged four stroke engine in the comparison, the two strokes are going to out-perform the four strokes on torque.

That said, I agree with you on the question of "which is better." That's a very subjective question and unless specific items are identified as being of primary concern, there really isn't a correct answer. If your four stroke meets your needs, its the best motor for you and that's all that matters.

I thought this thread was about a lopsided, more than likely staged/manipulated, promotional stunt:eek:Maybe Yamaha should do a rematch w the SHO.But again what would that prove?

They should compare apples to apples then best of 7. They must have shut down the Yamaha to help spare the engine and speed up the swamping event. Some folks will believe this crap.

Yep just promo advertising, nothing more. Yamaha engines are IMO far better than any other brand. This clip proves nothing but it was fun to watch.

Re: Dont buy this boat! lol

I have always loved Evinrude/Johnson and in the future planned on buying a new Evinrude for a boat I am planning on building. But after seeing that vid I have lost a bit of respect for them. That is not how Ole and Ralph Evinrude ever intended to sell their outboards. I have never liked Yamaha much because they are heavy, I do not doubt they may have good products. But they aren't even produced in America, one problem with our economy today is so many folks buying imported products. You don't have to buy Evinrude, but keep it in America especially with outboards. BRP is struggling with Evinrude and Brunswick is as well with Mercury obviously because of our economy and folks not being able to afford payments. That is the reason why outboards are highly priced, the more Americans buy imports the higher the cost of domestic goods and products. Next time you have a choice to buy anything foreign or domestic think about this... Would I rather support our economy or some other country I owe no loyalties to? So put money in the pockets of North America.
