Don,
First welcome to Washington. I am a couple of hours form Ocean Shores.
Now my question. I have a 1979 SeaRay with the 305 GM/Mercruiser 228 engine. I bought the boat from a friend who had not run the boat since 1998. I have go through everything and put the boat in the water yesterday. When the engine is at idle the tach seems to be fairly accurate in that it indicates about 800 RPM. the issue is that when I go to WOT the tach goes up to 2000 to 2500 and then goes to zero and stays there until I throttle back down where the tach again seems to work ok. Have you got any suggestions on what might be causing this?
