Don...No red lock-tite?

After replacing the rotor on my TBV ing. I can see your point. if any of that red lock-tite runs down the dist shaft yer screwed.:eek::eek: Do you use any type of adhesive? or just fore go it all together?:confused:

I put a light coating of grease on them so they stop rusting so bad around salt water. Have use locktite ONE time. I got too much and it ran down into the distrubutor bushings and locked up the engine........ Seriously, it locked the engine. Never used it since and have NEVER had a problem with one coming loose. Have you seen any other rotors ever needing glued down.... You know the same direction the rotor pushes it????
Other than the 470, it's probably the dumbest thing merc ever did.

Only salt around our boat is on the potato chips,,:D:D But I'll use your suggestion in the future. I'll wager more than a few dist. have been ruined due to that Merc procedure. That Red lock-tite is some serious sheet.

Red Locktite is forever (on what ever it touches...toast a bearing short order...its a powerful metal acid...Journeyman Machinist)
