Does the power trim motor have to be bleed, I removed the gimbal housing for transom repair awhile ago. Motor engages no movement of Trim Rods.

Does the power trim motor have to be bleed? I did a transom rebuild and the gimbal housing was off the boat for 2 months, the trim motor engages, but the rods don't move up or down, the outdrive isn't on it yet., is that maybe why because there's no pressure or weight to the trim rods?

was the drive up or down when you removed it?
There are PO check valves that could be stuck
is the motor running?

When I did my trim piston seals starting with the pistons in the extended position I just filled each cyl as much as I could & then filled the pump (carefully it can spit back at you) . Next cycled it up & down 5/6 times then tilted them all the way up & refilled pump. BTW I did this with the drive off might have been less strain on the pump that way. Trim works great now & no leaks….

No luck bleeding it so far.
Does the outdrive have to be on when I bleed it? I'm thinking weight may be a factor.

After a few tweaks with the hoses and letting out pressure etc, I was finally able to get the trim rams to work.
