I did not see the water came out from the bottom of boat last fall while doing winterization with muffs. So I uploaded two videos and one pictures for testing

First viedo can see the engine end turn while my son turn the key to start engie.--> can we say engie works?

Second viedo cannot see the upper turns while my sone turn the key to start engine--> can we say upper is broken?

The thrid picture shows that the new outdrive cannot be pushed into engine. --> Can we say the outdrive cannot fit my engine. I can easily push my old upper into engine. also the length of new outdrive is shorter 1 inch than my older shaft.

I have done the testing for the old upper, I can see the spline in the top of upper turns when I turn the shaft of upper. --> can we can upper works?

Thank you

Yes, there is a problem with the upper section. Remove the 4 bolts in the top cap and look inside

I am loading for the upper testing. Turn the shaft by hand and I can see the coupler turns

You are right. The coupler is gone. Expensive to fix it.
Have a shop do it, yes.

Do it yourself, no.

Remove drive (already done)
Remove engine (2 to 10 hours work depending on access)
Remove flywheel cover and coupler
Fit new coupler
Re-fit engine to boat.

A bit time consuming, but not difficult.

Chris....

After you replace the coupler, remember to pull the drive every year to inspect the u-joints and check alignment every year
