Well do you ? Any tips ?

Or are you the type can't be bothered and just order an OEM gasket ?

Just throw a roll of gasket paper that I bought to make a NLA transmission gasket for a lawn tractor back in 1992.

Has nothing to do with “can’t be bothered” and everything to do with cost.

By the time you source the correct material, hardness and thickness of gasket material, make the pattern and cut it out, you have far more into it than ordering an OE gasket and having it delivered in a day or two

the only time I make gaskets is if its a Sunday afternoon and I cant get a gasket to drive to work on Monday or the gasket is NLA. otherwise as dingbat stated, not worth it when the correct gasket is available.

I have made some where pressure and heat is not a critical issue
ex: impeller base gasket , intake manifold etc...

Cyl heads = OEM !!

Only in a pinch for me as the last time I did I blew it twice at the very end of the project.
Very frustrating 😂

What about carb gaskets
the price of the correct carb gasket set is usually less than the cost of a complete correct kit. I have made base gaskets and bowl gaskets in an emergency.
