It has dried for 24 hours. Using Rustoleum Bare Metal Primer over it. Directs aren't clear if I need to sand the self etch.

What TYPE of paint are you applying to the metal primer? It probably would not hurt to hit it with some 600 grit wet sanding to get a good bond. "Don't forget to bring a towel"

I'm using all Rustoleum: Self Etch Primer, then Bare Metal Primer, then the gloss enamel

Ayuh,... In my experience, reshooting in such a short window, resanding isn't necessary...

Self etching only needs to be applied to Bare Aluminum. Once applied and dried (couple of hours) Use a 3m Scotch Brite pad to knock down any nibs and then shoot the Bare metal primer over the entire Prepped(Acetone wipe down) surface. Wait 4-8 hours for the Bare metal primer to dry then again a light buffing with the pad and then shoot the 1st coat of color. Check out Page 10 of my thread for the details on mixing etc... Note: I have changed my recommendation from Rustoleum to Valspar Tractor and Equipment paint with the Hardener.
