Do I need to buy a new harness?

I have a 1994 Evinrude Motor on my Whaler. I recently purchased a new BRP OMC. I have install the OMC to the side of the boat and spliced the wires for the tilt and trim wires. I am stumped on what to do for the cable coming out of the OMC that is the "key switch harness connector" It has a connector on the end that has 6 male pins. Do I have to purchase a new harness to connect to this connector or do they sell a piece I can splice to my existing wires? There are more wires coming from my existing harness the six on the new connector.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

What motor and what are you connecting it to? The harness just plugs in to the controller plug. You shouldn't have to splice anything, unless you're being very creative, and your on your own then.

Evinrude 70hp 1994. The harness wires all ran into the inside of the OMC box. There was no existing connection piece on the exterier line. The wires were connected to different components inside the control box.

See your dealer as Evinrude has adapter harness kits for installing 1996 and newer motors to 1995 and earlier boat wiring and controls.

You are aware that for warranty and your engine protection that you also have to have either a SystemCheck gauge or tachometer with the 4 warning lights and a warning horn?

You can also download now the latest Evinrude rigging and installation manual from the Evinrude website in case you did not know.

Re: Do I need to buy a new harness?

I am keeping the 1994 70hp Evinrude motor and just replacing the OMC. Here is a picture of what the old one looks like and the new one I installed. The problem is that the new one has a connector piece for the motor and the old one ran staight into the motor with no connector. I am trying to find out if I can buy a female connector for the old line or if I should just do some creative splicing. I have attached some photos with fickr. Thanks for all your help.
