Okay so the boat is a 14 ft trihull and it has a longshaft on it. This is not the only problem thouh, the boat sits to low in the water or the transom does anyhow. Wen I got the boat I could run it at any speed and when I let off the throttle The wake would catch up to the boat and water would come in over the transom. I have temporarilly fixed the problem with a 2X6 and some 2X4 bolted through the transome and it is pretty sturdy and with some sealent no more water coming in the boat. would it be acceptable to fiberglass over this or do I need to actualy rebuild the transom.

I had an old trihull that would do that too. I would just not stop so fast. Is your engine to big for the boat?

Re: do I have to rebuild the transom?

a couple of things here....

first welcome to i boats.:)

push wake is standaed....thats what the splash well is for....make sure the drain is clear.

ok....is the longshaft motor on a short transom boat...this will cause all kinds of weird things.

the motor is more than likely too much for the boat. weight as well as hp....you can go plus 10 percent with out too much trouble.....but a 175 black max is waaaaay too much.

you might have extra weight in the back that can be relocated.....a live well, a battery..a cooler...gas tank....your aunt bertha.....

the only reason to rebuild a transom is rot....other wise you can add a peice of wood and glass it on to stop the splash back if you wish....its your boat ....you can do what ever you want......some twit here actually cut his boat in half and made it longer here.:D

however....as mentioned above....dont stop so soon,,, take more time to throttle back......it doesnt take much.
