Re: Do Hydrofoil stabilizers work?

We had a whale tail that came on a 225 Merc outboard, and in my opinion, it made it rougher to ride a tube when pulled directly behind the boat. I never did take it off the motor, as we bought another boat.

Re: Do Hydrofoil stabilizers work?

We are replacing a pretty bad anodoe under the Doel-fin Hydrofoil Stabilizer on our 1992 Celebrity 200 Cuddy Cabin and was wondering if we should also replace that Doel-fin Hydrofoil Stabilizer. We don't know how long they last, but each of the fins have a some curve in the fin (wearness). It is cheap enough ($35 @ West Marine) to replace if a new one would give better performance than the existing one. Don't know how long the existing one has been on the boat, but it's been on it since we took over ownership in early 2009.

You've added your question to an 18 month old thread ( against the rules  ).
If you really want to know if you should replace the fin, start a new thread so all of us bored boaters can discuss the merits of whaletales or tabs (Smart or helm operated) or even going without either :D
