To restore IE as your default browser, open IE, go to Tools->Internet Options->select Programs tab->click on the Make default radio button->click Ok. When you open FF and it asks you if yoy want to make FF your default browser, click No.

Yep Outsider, that would work but it would be better to be able to open it so I could decide if I wanted to save it!

Re: Discovered a bummer with FireFox v10

I'm running XP SP3, FF vers 10.0. I just sent an email to my Yahoo Account from Outlook with an imbedded pic and it shows fine in Yahoo mail. So I did the same thing only attached a pic. In Yahoo with the attached pic I get a clickable thumbnail and the option to download it. I don't need any open with or anything and no prompts. It's just a thumb in the preview window. So I'm getting very confused why it's not working for you, Boom.

If people would just understand, 90% of the problems you have when visiting a site like this is on your computer, it would be so much easier to deal with things, come on folks, there is millions of computer configurations out there, this software only run one or two ways, give them time to get the upgrades done, then start griping..

Nobody is complaining about this site....in this thread.
I think you are confusing this one with a few others that are out there.

For sure GA, I get the thumbnail as well. It is not exactly very viewable. If I click on the thumbnail, a green line appears below it, with a Norton Antivirus logo on it, that gives the option to download. You click on the download link and a box opens up with the option to 'open with' or 'save' save the image.

On my IE machine, I select 'open with' and hit the 'OK' button. The picture then opens in WP&FV. On my FF machine, the OK button is inactive and I have to click on the 'browse' button that is adjacent to the 'open with' declaration. It is here that the various choices that I mentioned before show up and WP&FV is not amongst them.

What he said!

I think that MT is mixing up his threads.

I click the thumb and get a Yahoo slide show with a picture large enough to determine if I would want to download or not.

Norton just might be your problem. See if there are any options in Norton. Unfortunately, AV progs are like ethanol or oil threads - too many opinions. Personally I don't pay for any AV or firewall programs and have never, repeat never had a virus. And I won't use any MS security program. Norton is one of the worst in my opinion. These are my opinions and reflect nothing but MY opinion. To each his own.

I have not mixed up anything! Of course I may be one of the few that has never run any virus software and have never got a virus, it all comes down to how you configure your brower(s) and email programs. Even when I was in the army, I did beta testing for Norton and found out quite a few of the secrets that viruses exploit your computer.

Broom, I really wish I was in Vancouver, I could have you back up and running in just a few minutes.

GA and MT, I do not have Norton Antivirus on my computer. I think it's presence is only a function of the Yahoo Mail Server. It simply purports to check the Yahoo attachment for any bugs,

Sorry for insinuating that you might be fallible....I was just going by what you posted....which clearly is not related to the topic in this thread.

Boomyal is not describing problems with the iBoats site at all.

Maybe you should re-read the thread from post #1 and see if you can actually understand the discussion.
I just didn't understand why you were accusing people of griping in this thread about the updates to this site.

(I happen to agree with your rant in that thread where the horde was complaining, BTW.....:))

Nope, Boom. Yahoo is not doing anything with Norton, it's on your computer. I'm willing to bet that when you got the computer new it had a "free trial" copy of Norton. One of the problems with Norton is even if you use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel it does not remove all elements of Norton. You must use a tool from Norton to completely remove every bit of Norton. The tool is here.

At first glance, what you say made some sense. Even though I checked for any traces of Norton on this machine (none found) Dell was certainly known to load their systems up with all kinds of trial programs and any Norton AV could have been long ago deleted. This was my dear departed FIL's computer so he used it for a few years before I got it.

I looked at the removal link that you provided and could not identify which Norton AV product might have been installed so none of the choices worked.

I then got curious so I booted my other machine that had a retail XP load on it (I did it) and I knew that it never had any Norton AV on it. I opened up the yahoo mail in question and clicked on the thumbnail. Up popped the green bar with the Norton AV logo on it. However, after it has checked for any virus, I click on download and it opens the thumbnail in WP&FV.
