disconnecting vro pump

got 1991 65 hp johnson and like to know when disconnecting the vro pump must the solid purple wire have to be disconnected too. thanks.

Disconnect the three wire harness from the vro including the purple as well as the two wire lead from the oil reservoir.The purple wire is keyed 12 volt supply source.Always a good idea to insure that the overheat alarm circuit still operates after this by having the key in the "on" position,engine not runnning,and ground the tan temp sensor lead near the top cylinder and listen for the alarm chirp.
