Direction on project?

I came on this website just to get some info on switching outboard motors on my boat. Then, thanks to all the forums on floor rot, I pulled the carpet and found that my floor needs replacing. That led to the transom. Since I'm doing that, why not redo the whole boat. Now, I've got two really good ideas. I want to either turn my 17ft fiberform into either a center console or a small cuddy cabin. Judging from what I have seen from other peoples work, I have the skills to do it. So which design do I go for? I am in AK right now so having the extra protection of the cuddy cabin to crawl into to warm up would be nice. On the other hand, I should be moving to FL next summer and the extra open room of the center console would be nice. I have nothing else to do in winter up here so let me know what you think.

I would put a removable cuddy and a CC on her Coastie.

I don't suppose you know of any projects like this that someone has already done do you?

No, I don't, Coastie, but you might get some ideas from the Boston Whaler Outrage cuddys from the 80s. They were CC with a small cuddy up front.

I have all those catalogs on CD. I could probably post a page for you or Email it. If you want it Email, PM me.

BTW, I am not comfortable with this threads title; not really iboats style. Do you think you could edit it to something more "iboats"?

Thanks. :)

Re: You guys suck.

I saw a CC a couple of yrs ago (I think the boat make was Outrage, or something like that) that a fella had modified with a pop-up hard top cuddy with soft sides. Wish I had taken a picture of it. Boat wasn't that big, maybe 20'. When running this thing folded down into place to form a hard fwd deck. Popped up it was probably 2' above the gunnels, hight enough to allow you to sit up in comfortably. He and his wife were sleeping in there when we pulled into the slip next to them. It seemed like a cool way to add some living space to a small boat.

That's a pretty neat idea. Don't know if it would do what I want though.

Also, tried editing my post to chnge the title. It would only let me change the post. Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone, just wanted to grab your attention.

Just remember, you are transferring weight to the front.
