Re: Direct TV and buying a new receiver or DVR
I shopped around then called dtv. They sold me "my" receiver for less
then a new one from anywhere else. Don't remember exactly but it was
$100 or less. They credit me the $5 lease fee every month.
As far as a receiver from somewhere else, I have done this too.
It HAS to have a card matched to it. In my case I knew the person that
gave it to me. I called dtv, they "unmarried" the card from the former
owner and then "married" it to me.
It took all of 10 min. on the phone and it was working.
If you buy one on ebay, just make sure it is new enough
to be compatible. Their customer serv. # can tell you by the
model #.
They have been crediting me the $5.00 lease fee on my bill for years.
Years ago I noticed the same thing you did. Why pay them $60 a year?OP got pissed cause he has to wade through a bunch of responses that did not address the question, might have gotten better answers from actual DirecTV subscribers
then advice from people in Canada ??? ( can you even get DirecTV in Canada )
oh I forgot you guys are the ones that used to steal the US direcTV signal, maybe I should listen
best yet, provides legal links from state of Mass to OP who's profile clearly states a different location
