difficult outboard

I have a 1969 Evinrude Triumph 55 hp on a 15ft Arrowglass trihull. Just bought it in August and can't get it to run right. I have no top end power. It will run smooth up to 3/4 throttle but after that it will cut out and lose power. Here is what I have done so far--
new tank (yes the valve is open)
new fuel lines
new fuel pump
new lines from pump to carbs.
rebuilt carbs
changed points
wire insulation was severely deteriorated so put on new wire harness.
put on new amplifier box.
Checked compression (125-135 lbs.)
After all this still has same symptoms. Does run better at low end but still cuts out and loses power after 3/4 throttle, but if I pull on the choke it will run just fine at almost WOT.
What am I missing.
Can anyone out there help? Thanks.

Re: difficult outboard

How do I make it richer there are no high speed adjustments, only low speed adjustments and they make no difference

Re: difficult outboard

Make sure the main jets are clean enough to see well through. It could have plugged exhaust ports.

Re: difficult outboard

Yepblaze has the answer, I think. Since you can get it to run right when you give it choke, the jets and pickup tube are where I would go back, and re-do.
Also, check float level setting. The jet will look open sometimes, but will be restricted. Run a pipecleaner thru it,or if smaller diameter than a pipecleaner, a pin soaked in carb cleaner.
