Difference between (89-92) & (93-05)

In the 40-50hp range whats the difference in lower units, asking because mine went to crap (98) and found one thats a 91... But im not sure if its compatible.

Too many unknowns to make an usable answer. What type engine, what type of replacement donor engine? You can always research the models and see their actually part numbers of the parts you are interested in to verify. I do that all the time...

I would to transfer the entire lower unit from one to another. I was just wondering if it was minor difference. The motors are a 48 evinrude 1991 and a 40 Johnson 1998

You can go to shop.evinrude.com, look up the mtrs in the parts diagrams and compare them.
