Did I cause damage?

Hey everyone, new to the forum here and I’m hoping you well educated people can help me out with my 1973 evinrude fasttwin 18 (18304).

I was out last weekend on a new river, putting along at about half throttle because we didn’t know the waterway. When we turned around to head back up river I opened the throttle up and there was no increase in speed or rpm. I was about 5 mins from the launch so we just plugged along. Once I got home I popped the cowling off and found the connecting rod for the secondary butterfly had come undone, not allowing the butterfly to open. The plugs came out pretty wet and I also noticed a decent amount of 50:1 around the propeller/lower unit (not enough to require a drip pan, just a few wipes with a rag) So I guess I had been running WOT dumping a bunch of fuel into the carb/engine all while having restricted air flow. I re attached the connecting rod and ran the engine in a bucket and it ran right up to peak RPM.

Is there anything more I should do? Anything else I should check? Is it possible this has caused damage I can’t not see or have yet to find? Pic of of the leak attached.

looks like just carbon wash out from flooding fuel coming out the cavity drain hole.

if it works don't fix anything
