depth reading problem.

i put a used garmin 160 on my boat. once in the water at idle or not moving, it takes forever to get a depth and when it does reads around 800ft in 15ft water. never got a reading under that. transducer problem? new transducer? thanks kc

It could be a problem with the transducer or the head unit. A transdcer will run you ~1/2 the cost of a new unit.
