I recently bought a 1991 Chris Craft 228 Cudy Cruiser that has some rotted deck. I am replacing that with a combination of marine grade and regular exterior grade plywood. But there is a framing member that is 1 1/2" X 1 3/4". This wood is used to frame the deck and seats to the plywood. I took a sampel to the local lumber yard and the lady there was no help identifing the type of wood. She suggested building up the replacement from 3/4" teak?$$$ I have included several pictures of the wood to help identify a sutible replacement? I thought white oak, cherry, or cedar would work. This wood is only used as a frame for the plywood deck and seating. I adds little or no real structural support to the boat. Any suggestions for a replacement would be appreciated? The first picture is a short piece used to support the seating. The second is also supporting the rear seats. The third is used to support the deck and to block the fuel tank in place. Again any suggestions on the type of wood to use here? Thanks.
