Got a 97 Bayliner...some loose carpeting (glue gave way) at rear of deck - lucky I guess since I see some issues with the decking. I have several spots (heavy wet traffic spot from soaking wet kids) where the glass coating is cracked. They are small cracks in the deck surface - 1st noticed while at lake so as a floating temp fix I got a tube of silicon and coated them.

Under the seat there are more where the glass is discolored (presume worse, but in vertical spot non support area)...also sealed that area same way.

Floor is solid and doesn't flex and I am not tiny.

Looking for product to apply to this area to better seal area to protect wood under glass. I have placed thick removable rubber mats in heavy traffic areas to avoid constant impact.

Re: Deck question

I though that the "wood" used in the 97 boats were presure treated. Thus no rot however, check with Bayliner.

If the woods fine let it dry out and sand the areas a bit. Then coat with some epoxy and lay a 4 oz glass cloth over the wet epoxy. Wait at least 34 hours but less than 48 and wet the same area agin to seal in the cloth. Then after this layer cures install the carpet and you will be ahaed of the game for a while.

If the wood is not presure treated then you gonna be tearing that floor out in a few years if you cannot get the water stopped.

Good luck.

Re: Deck question

Thanks for the info - that is good news and was not aware of the pressure treated issue. I will do as you suggest and sounds like a fairly easy fix.
