Really stupid question:

What actually holds the anchor "tang" or "shaft" down in a set of deck mounted anchor chocks.

I have never used this before but have common sense enough to figure how it sits in, the fluke tips come to rest in the two triangular receivers, then the shaft lays into the notched piece. There are 2 kleet like wings on this piece.

If I take the anchor chain and run a loop around the anchor ( to prevent chain rattle while underway) the rope/rode can secure to these wings?

Is there some easier method that I am missing, or is this how it's done?

Thanks for any help.

There should actually be four pieces if it for a Danforth type: The two fluke tip holders, the shaft holder which should have a thumbscrew to secure the shaft, and the back piece that holds one of the two rectangular plates between the flukes.

You space them so that with the flukes pushed fully into their holders, the back plate just clears its holder. Set it down into it and push back to hold it. Then set the shaft inot its holder and tighten the thumbscrew.

It is already set up on the boat. Yes 4 pieces. But the final part, the piece that the shaft lays into, does not have any kind of thumb screw, just the kleet type wings.

I have found a picture that is similar to what I have and am trying to include it in this post.

Yep, you have the "other" type. you need to take a light piece of ceasing line (spelling?), about 1/8" - 3/16", and tie the anchor stock down to the chock using the horns on the chock to tie to.

ok thanks for the info....
i couldn't figure out if you wrap the anchor line about the horns, somehow, or if another line is used.

thanks again
