I am excited for you! Can I ask what steered you towards the SeaRay?

Dalman you are up in Merritt?... or is that where the lake is? You're obviously a BC boy so think about this option. Check out the Dealers and Craigslist stuff in Washington state to get a reference point first. Given our current (Can.) dollar you will do much better given the lower prices on the U.S side. There are a lot of Washington/US sellers figuring this angle out and now advertising in BC...which is very smart. The trip/travel issue is not a big deal at all obviously. A lot of Washington sellers would probably trailer it to Bellingham or thereabouts for you for that matter. Maybe makes for 1 longer travel day total...but you may save yourself a 2-3 thousand bucks, maybe more.
Around here (Vancouver Island) there are lots of boats for sale...but they are priced way rich for the current improving market.
Check out a few ads from their and see what you think. Just my (Can.$) two cents worth.

Ebbtide's are real nice. They have been making boats for quite some time and, IMHO, are comparable in quality to Sea Ray, and maybe a little nicer than a Stringray (and I love my Stingray). Definitely worth checking out.

Is it the campione model?

See if they will throw in the tubes and ski gear too.

I agree that Ebbtides are nice, but I wouldn't expect them to be priced up with Sea Ray. Better comparisons for Ebbtide are Four Winns and Larson LXi models. That 190 in the ad begs for the EFI 4.3L. Not so sure the carb version of the 4.3L would be a good fit. Let a test drive decide it.

08 sea ray sport 205. Blue two tone, 260 engine, bunch of other options. It is ordered, supposed to be 6 weeks or so. Not in a major rush, it will be getting cold soon, and hopefully lots of snow:D.

And...I have to clean out my disgustingly messy garage, and it will take me about that long.

They were the first company that sent me all of the information, and the dealer contacted me right away as well. The quality from what I saw was there, and they were recommended by some people i know.

The dealer was awesome, which is important as heck.

Just to chime in on the original question of Stingray vs. Searay.....with a 3.0 engine the Stingray will perform much more to your satisfaction because it is lighter and has a more shallow hull. However it will have a rougher ride in chop. Smart Tabs would help smooth the ride.

I wouldn't buy the heavier boats in that size w/o the 4.3 . With a Stingray, i might consider it.

Also, an 18-19' boat is fine for a small family with young kids. Get out there for a while and deal with 2'itis later. The models with the rear bench are a bit more cramped in that size than the b-2-b seats.

Stay in your budget because whatever you have budgeted for operating costs are way less than what you'll spend! Most of us worry about fuel costs at first.....then we figure out they're just part of the endless stream of costs of boat ownership.

Re: decisions and advice...sea ray or stingray?

so i have had a whole NEW (boat) world opened up to me and this forum has been a springboard...anyway, I am curious about the Blue Water brand. I have come across one that seems to fit many of the suggestions people have made on this thread..(4.3EFI, 19ft etc)...I have done a search and even checked the Blue Water threads... but can anyone comment?
cheers,
P

For shopping the price the comparisons I would use are Glastron SEi, Reinell, and Starcraft. Price really should be less than Ebbtide, Four Winns, and Larson LXi.

Re: decisions and advice...sea ray or stingray?

The boat length and type you seek is great for family fun as you say. I have been waiting around for several months just to find a similar boat to buy used. I also thought the 3.0 would be fine for me. However, not one person I asked told me that I would be happy with the 3.0 power plant. I don't want to be unhappy with it and be looking for another boat after buying the first. I will be hauling my family of five (me, wife, and 3 kids) at least. I just decided to look for the 4.3L engine and bypass any questions. I have found a 1993 BAJA 180 Islander outfitted with the 4.3 in really great garage kept shape and am in negotiations. Keep you head open to ideas. You may be suprised at what you find using patience.

Did you purchase the Baja Islander? I am looking at a '93 with the 4.3LX right now that looks pretty clean, but I don't know much about the Baja line.
Are you happy with the boat?
