I recently purchased a 14' 1979 Gamefisher Tri Hull. I had it out on the lake 2 times now and everything seems to be fine. The important thing is it floats. It is faded white with mint green trim. I was thinking about painting the faded white with a fresh coat of white and painting the mint green a dark red color. I would like to brush paint it in layers so it doesn't chip as quick as spray bomb. My fear is it won't look good but once I start there's no turning back.

Any thought's or suggestions?

There are some great threads here for "how to paint your boat". Lots and lots of prep work to make it look good in the end. The roll and tip method of painting using topside marine paint is one way, most including me prefer to use a HVLP spray gun though.

Watermann is right. The Roll n' Roll method can yield some almost Spray like results, if you're patient. Rustoleum Paint with the hardener added will give you a very durable finish and you can tint it to get just about any color you want. This link will give you the details...
