Was talking to a boat dealer about a couple project boats and he told me a story from earlier this week.

He sold a nice open bow to a couple and went over everything with them, took them on the water for an hour and suggested they take a safe boating course. Everyone was happy. Two days later the guy comes in panicked and says the boat just sank at the ramp/dock after putting it in. The dealer sends his mechanic and they manage to drag it back on to a trailer and to the dealership.

A quick walk around and there is no boat plug. He asks the guy, ?Did you forget the boat plug?? The guy, dead seriously said, ?Of course not, I plugged it in before we left home. Otherwise the brake lights and turn signals don?t work?.

We have a phrase in tech support.

Ignorance can be cured, but stupidity is forever.

What I find funny is that the guy probably thought the dealer was stupid, when he asked, "Did you forget the plug?" Gotta love that response, though.

Ya think he shoulda' taken that safe boater course suggested by the dealer.:facepalm:

Hmmm, what would be the boating equivalent of PEBCAK?

PEBCAK = IT Support term for Stupid User error - Problem Exists Between Chair and Keyboard.

PEBCAK can usually be fixed with a little time and diplomacy, but when the user is dumber than a pickle and proud of it, the stupidity phrase applies.

Yep. To quote the warden in Coolhand Luke, "Some men you just can't reach."

Another walking advertisment for "Natural Selection". If you're really that stupid, get off the planet, you're NOT helping us. And, Some people's children really should have been shot at birth.

Shot at birth.....that's a bit harsh.

Maybe you could say that there was an "Eye Dee Ten Tango" situation. (Navy pronunciation for "ID10T')

Bet he has a PhD... Just cause Daddy was rich.. Sent ya to school and you make $250000 a year... That doesn't make you intelligent.. Think about it... He went in to a dealer and bought a nice NEW bowrider... I can't do that.. I still always remember to install my plug in my 24 year old boat.... Oh well bet he had insurance...
