Looking at a new boat website, they showed the amount of deadrise for each model. I know what it is but how would one know how much is good? and good for exactly what?

Re: Deadrise?

Deadrise is a measurement of how deep the V portion of the bottom of a boat is at the transom. It is measured in degrees, and the higher the number, the deeper the V. It is important to know this depending on what you will use the boat for. A shallow deadrise will be faster, require less horsepower, but will be uncomfortable in rough water. A higher degree of deadrise will cut through the rough water better and be more comfortable, but requires more power and isn't as fast unless the engine is huge. It is all a compromise.
