I have a dashboard stain on my 1987 Bayliner that I want to remove.
It looks like some sort of oil stain (although it is long dried). I've scrubbed it with the strongest soap I'm willing to try. That didn't make a dent in the stain.
At this point I'm probably looking at covering up the stain. That means I either repaint the dashboard or cover it with something (carpeting?).
I'm reluctant to paint because the dashboard gets a LOT of sunlight and I'm worried about the paint peeling (and what a mess that would be!) and the maintenance issue. However, it would be easier/cheaper than a covering.
Any advice about painting or covering?
