I recently purchased a 2001 Starcraft Starcaster 1754. Key to start motor works fine but the switches on the dash don't work. I'm sure one is a master and then lights and bilge pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a grounding issue...

A multimeter will help big-time for stuff like this.

Check fuse in the small positve lead near the battery. That line and the ground wire power all the stuff at the helm.

Power to the gauges should come from the ignition switch. Trace the wires from the ignition to the gauges and use a meter to confirm voltage along the way until you find the location where voltage doesn't exist. It could be a loose wire right at the ignition.

He's talking about the switches -- not the gauges. Switches are powered from the boat harness -- not the engine harness.

I apologize guys as I've owned Jon boats for years. Just stepped up to this one and having issues with the switches

If you look back at the battery you should see one pair of large battery cables that go to the engine. There should be a smaller pair of #8 or #10 gauge wires with either a fuse or circuit breaker in the positive lead close to the battery. If that fuse or breaker is open, no power gets to the helm so nothing the switches control would work. All of those connections need to be shiny clean and tight.

Guys thanks so much for the help. Got the switches working. It was a bad fuse near the battery. Any idea how fast this boat will run. It's a 17' with a 90/65 Jet. With 2 guys and gear I'd say it will weigh 1700 lbs. Thanks
