I fish the Western Basin and Central Basin of Lake Erie. If you don't know me, I'm the guy that rebuilt his boat and motor over the winter. I now moved on to customizing my tackle. Rather do it myself than pay higher price for it.

Last night started painting my inline trolling weights. I am trying this style and three others out this summer. I normally use bottom bouncers. I am going with all 4oz for the one area I normally fish in. Deep water to me. 40'-65'. I figure the different styles will put different presentations at the same speeds.

I have four colors I like to run, Purple/Blackish, Orange/Yellowish (AKA; Jerry Springer), Green/Yellow, Coachdog (white and black stripes).

The fist style of in-line weight is the standard bottom bouncers. The second style is fish type Big head thin tail. The third I a tappered fish, ciscoe I think style. The forth is a diamond style tapered fish. These get bent like a "Z" and add, I think.

Anyways, back to painting. Here is how the Purple and Jerry Springer colors came out for the trolling sinkers.

I'll take a pic of the other style as I get them painted.

I am hoping for a couple of salt water people to chime in on this diamond fish style and ways to fish them. Meaning trolling sppeds to sink rates.

Any ideas on colors for walleys and bows? I have a box full of paint colors so the possiblities are endless.

Also anyone ever runn these with just a hook on the end? Not spinner running 3-4' behind them?

Oh yes still working out the small issues with the boat and motor. But I needed a project and started getting into this......

Well finally finish painting the weight last night. They came out pretty nice if I do say so myself. Now just a coat of clear and then some terminal tackel and then we are off and ready.

Here are some pics.

They are 2 oz, 3 oz, and 4 oz sizes. I hope to get out this weekend and try some of them. We'll see if Monday opens up for me.

Now its time to start on the spinner blades! Only a few of them to paint. Seeing that I have some of the colors left over from last year.

Looks nicehave an Idea on color light grey under dark grey, dark painted with the stuff used to wrap the rice, or bird seed at weddings. Have painted weight forwards with a true perch look both work very well.

Re: Custom painting my in line weights.

I've tryed the grey before on spinner blades. Never got any hits on it. My altime best color is white back and florecent pink on front, I use wedding veil material bought from Wal mart. It's like $1 per yard. Smaller holes the better.

I do have a story about buying material to get the fish scale pattern. I went into a lingerie store one time and asked for the largest pair of fish net stocks they had. Not think the way it came out I was going to wear them. They looked at me a little weird when I asked, but the ladies helped me out none the less. It wasn't until I was at my buddies house having a couple of beers and telling the story about the weird look I got that my buddies informed me why they ladies where looking at me funny. Obviously my buddies where rolling at this story. I'm 5"10" and 300lbs.
