Cruising the inter coastal small boat

We are going to be in south Fl gulf side in April. We have a small boat and want to take a couple of days to explore the inter coastal. We are looking for scenic waters with restaurants and bars along the way. We have from Venice to Ft.Myers to choose from.
Where would you go???

There really isn't an ICW to speak of, there are a few backwater channels you can go in and out of. Look into Punta Rassa and Pine Island Sound, that icludes Cabbage Key and Sanibel/Captiva.
