In order to sell my 2004 Yamaha 40ELPTO. I cleaned carbs ultrasonically. Clean as a whistle. Wire thru all holes. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter. Sold to somebody who took about a month before he restarted. Now it won't stay running. Starts, idles fast then slows down and dies. I understand that is how it is supposed to be with primer system. He finally took top carb and bottom carb off. Bottom carb was full of crud but top was clean. He did not remove center carb because of primer assy. But I can only think that since I replaced fuel pump and filter that this crud came from a hose that remained even though it sure seems like a lot for one hose. He also noted bottom cylinder spark plug was wetter than he liked. Set air fuel screw out 1 1/2 turns. Do all carbs use same turns?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
