Crownline 180 BR - Merc 4.3 MPI Prop

Hey all,

I've recently become the new owner of a 2006 Crownline 180 BR with the Mercruiser 4.3 MPI engine and Alpha 2 1.62 drive. The current prop on it is chewed to hell so I'm looking at replacements. I'd like to get something that provides fantastic launch/hole shot and quick planing, I'm not concerned about top speed be sacrificed to achieve this. The current prop is a Merc Black Max 21p 14 1/4". I've been doing some research before posting and landed on a 4 fin 19p 14 1/4" prop:

How far off the mark am I? Any suggestions?

What was your wot rpm with the 21” pitch ? If you were close to 5000 you may not want to drop pitch so much

Around 4600 I believe.

if you were at 4600 would expect dropping 2" and adding a blade would get you around 4800-4900 or so at WOT.

Just did a similar swap on neighbors 20-21 ft Larson with a 4.3 Volvo MPI, had a 3 blade 19" Aluminum VP prop and was low on wot maybe 4400 or so, went to a 17" 4 blade VP prop hits 4900 at WOT and jumps on plane.
