Crosby sled Serial number

How many numbers are in the serial # of a Crosby Sled. I found 5 numbers but it was not in the location that everybody was saying it would be. I checked and there were no numbers there at the bow of the boat. But found mine in the middle of the boat on the (bench seat?). How could I find out?

The first 3 characters (letters/numbers or both) are the manufacturers code of who built the boat. The last two digits are the year built. What is between those is a total unknown. Depending on the year the USCG did not require HIN (Hull Identification Numbers) for some time.

Okay what numbers did you find?

The only numbers mine had were at the bow eye.

The numbers i found were 13767. So i guess my boat is a 67 Crosby?

well I just got a Crosby the other day as well and found this site while trying to research some info on it. I guessed mine being in the late 60's as well, however my 5-digit number ends in 13. It is on the bow above the eye on a metal tag and on the bench seat inside and I double checked them both and it does end in 13. Can anyone help me with this ?
