This is my first time posting so I am definitely a newbie. I picked up a 79 23' Critchfield Cuddy Cabin earlier this year. I have found very little info about these boats, Only that Mr. Critchfield raced boats. I am wondering if anyone owns one of these boats. I have found a few Critchfields but they are all much smaller and mostly racing boats. I intend spend the rest of 2014 after I get home rebuilding her.

Lemme know what everyone thinks:):):)

Re: Crithchfield Cuddy Cabin rebuild

Welcome to Iboats and the rebuild madness. I don't know about Critchfields, but that looks like a worthwhile rebuild. She looks deep. I'm a "Tinny", so I probably won't be able to offer any advice, but I'm sure that there'll be some interest amongst the "Glassers". I wonder sometimes if you get a better built boat from a lesser known manufacturer that has to try harder to compete. Perhaps yours will have glass stringers that won't need replacement. - Grandad

Nice looking. Must be hard to get back in the boat with those swim steps so low. How tall is the transom?

I am pretty sure the stringers and the transom are good. I drilled some holes to check everything and all looks good. Sounds solid as well. The stringer design is interesting. They are wood for about 8 ft from the stern then turn to foam the rest of the way. I have a few pics of the design.

The transom is very tall. While on the trailer from the ground to the top of the stern is about 5 ft.

I picked up the drivetrain for her yesterday. 5.7 Mericruiser 260, full Gimble, Alpha1 Gen 2 outdrive, all trim parts and it is all in great shape, fully functional and no corrosion. I think I got it for a steal too:D

I cant wait to get home and get back into the rebuild!!!
