Creating a side console for a Carolina Skiff

Carolina Skiff apaprently does not make a side console, or at least one that would fit their V-series skiffs. I am toying with the idea of customizing one of their center consoles to fit snug against the side.<br /><br />Has anyone ever heard of anybody else that has done this?<br /><br />What other options can someone suggest, perhaps an aftermarket console or a different approach?<br /><br />Thanks!<br /><br />Tony

Most who have center consoles LOVE THEM! Many like JasonJ are rebuilding to incorporate a center console. I have a sit down runabout I'm building for wakeboarding...so my opinion doesn't really count...but..<br /><br />Many would think you crazy for switching from the center.

My current jonboat is very small, so if I invest the $ to upgrade to a new boat I want ROOM ROOM ROOM to walk about (fight fish, anchor duties, etc) without walking *around* a center console. Plus, my fishing partner is handicapped and more open floor space is better for both of us.

I suggest you simply find a boat that meets your needs, especially if you are buying new. Converting a center console to a side console will require you to reroute the controls along the side, rather than the center tube the goes under the floor, then covering the hole in the floor. You would probably need to construct the console from fiberglass or wood. Again, I recommend find a boat that meets your needs. Good luck....
