I would not have even responded, these scams are rampant on craigslist and I normally get several of them before I find a legitimate buyer.

Well since the scammer wasted my time I am going to have a little fun and waste their time. The guy gave me a name to transfer the money walmart to walmart to Larry Black Atlanta Georgia 30253

I would let the FBI know. they have a fraud division (just google FBI mail fraud).

I never accept checks, and only accept postal Money Orders because I can call the 800 number to verify

Yeah it was supposed to be a MO. I notified the USPS fraud investigators. And the correctional facility the check was stolen from.

Not the purpose at all. They aren't trying to cash a check, they are trying to steal from a mark. In this case, a Mark.

Mark - Don't do anything silly and end up as Larry Black's cellmate in the Jackson Parish slammer. :eek

Take the check to your bank - They know what to do and who to contact.

Well sometimes things work out for the better. I relisted the boat and had a guy call and leave a message, I played phone tag and yesterday he called back. The guy had really no interest in buying the boat, I was on the phone for a half hour with the guy. The guy is 78 years old he wanted to talk about old alumacraft boats, he knew more about the boats then I have been able to find online. I am going to take him out for lunch and tour his shop next week, he has a boat with the very corner pieces I need, I may have found a donor boat only the handles will be removed and cast for replacements and the handles reinstalled back on the donor.
