Guy here in my town is selling his old 1978 190 SS for $200 due to not winterizing last fall and cracked the block as seen in the picture. I am wondering if this area can be patched up? Just not sure what the inside area looks like on a Mercruiser 165.
I have in the past brazed and also JB welded an couple Mercruiser 140s but never delt with a 165.
Deck and transom are solid and should make a good fishing rig

Pretty decent looking deck boat for $200. Could be a great fishing boat.

If transom / hull isn't bad, I would grab it and just plunk another engine in it for that money.

Ayuh,..... 'bout the same as the 140, only 2 cylinders longer,.....

If it's cracked only to the outside,..?? no problem,...
But, there's usually another crack opposite that one, into the oil cavity,....

Thats a shame

Gm inline 6 is a wonderful motor.

Based on how clean the package appears in the (fuzzy) pics it might be worth sourcing a different long block
