I just bought a boat from someone dishonest and noe I need a short block or an entire 350 engine. The compression in the cylinders is 105-115 for all the cylinders, IS this OK for a 1980? There are two cracks in the water jacet about 6" long-one on each side. What should I do?

------------------
lapper

Re: Cracked 350 block

I agree. A chevy 350 short or long block. These are common blocks, and can be found for 800.00 in most good auto shops. This is one of the many benifits of having such a setup.I did an R+R in less than a week (vacation spent in a boatyard instead of the water, but at least I had my baby back). It's a hot, nasty job. But it is cheaply done (compared to a 200HP powerhead).
