Cowling rubber adhesive

What is the best stuff to use to glue the rubber gasket on the cowling. I probably will be removing the rubber at some point to paint the cowling. I'm thinking contact cement may be to permanent. What say you?

What about typical automotive gasket sealers sold in part stores, like Permatex and Loctite. They have a variety of types and colors and I would think they would work as well. JMHO!

I recall a member using what looked liked 50 or more clothes pins to keep the gasket pressed against the cowl during the drying process, some type of clamping process may come into play depending on the fit of the seal to the cowl
