I swear these plastic parts are made so cheaply
It came broken off a 9.9 / 15
Is there a way to fix this before I order the part

The top half attached to the cowl is essentially a zip tie .

buying the new parts is fixing the cowl.

plastic parts last a maximum of 15 years, that is the nature of plastic parts anywhere near an engine or exposed to UV

By design this is prone to failure.

And will likely break again during transport.

Surely there has to be a better solution

If new motors were assembled and built the old way , then sticker shock would happen in the showroom.

however low volume plastic parts cost more than low volume metal parts until you get over the 250,000 piece part range once you factor in tooling, etc.

two holes and a tye wrap works pretty good but then the cowl plastic would eventually break.

conclusion... bite the bullet....
