I need some advice please, we recently bought a boat (Bass Boat--so we can't get to the rivets from the inside) from an individual that was supposed to be fine, everything worked, no leaks, and guaranteed. You guessed it, we've gone thru money and h*^*$# just to get it to run, still working on repairing and replacing the perfect things, plus it leaks like a sieve. 
It was leaking 8-10 gals. every 10-15 min., I think that amount was critical, so the work and decisions began.
We've worked for two weeks, trying to stop the leaking, thank goodness for this forum, I read everything I could find about leaking aluminum riveted boats. We cleaned off the center strip and rivets, and used 3M 5200 the entire length, my question is, we plan on cleaning off the remaining bottom (not sides) and using gluv it, will the 3M 5200 and gluv it be compatible or should we avoid the center area that has the 3M 5200.
I've also read that taking off the oxidation isn't a good idea, our boat has a lot of plain 'ole dirt, I want the gluv it, to adhere and I think it needs a light sanding. A local boater told us to use Sno Bowl toliet bowl cleaner. Your ideas about the dirt (remove or leave) would be much appreciated.
