I was wondering what opinions were out there dealing with the different options for types of covers. I live in Indiana, so I will need something to protect during the off seasons, even though the boat will probably be under shelter, but want a nice trailerable cover as well. The ones I have seen at Bass Pro are like $900, but I did see the Westland custom covers here on the iBoats site and they are priced pretty reasonable. I know the old saying that "You get what you pay for" so I wanted to see if there are any suggestions out there. Thanks.

I have a 2004 215 and have the official cover. Needless to say, it leaks so I have to buy a relatively cheap tarp every year to keep it water proof.

I still use the "shipping" cover that was on my boat when it arrived at the dealer...Other than being ugly, it works great. Has two poles to keep the middle elevated...vents....two ratchet straps...works great while on the trailer and while on the lift at my dock at the marina.

I'm about to have one made at a local canvas shop. The guy says $700-$900, but absolutely not over $900, and it's trailerable and won't flap. I've seen some of their other work, and it looks nice. I'll post pics when I get it done. I may be a month or more, because I had to head back out to work early, and won't get to it for at least another couple weeks.

You use the shipping cover when towing your boat? I use mine for storage, but was told by the dealer not to use it for towing. No, he doesn't sell covers so he wasn't trying to get me to buy one from him. Do you have any problems with it flapping?

No...works fine...has two posts to keep the middle up and two ratchet straps to keep it nice and snug. I don't tow my boat frequently, since I keep my boat in a slip at the marina...when I do tow, it is highway speeds for approximately 20 miles. I have never had any problems at all.

I did get my custom cover made from a local tarp & canvas shop. It was $450 made from sunbrella material and has heavy duty tarp sewed in on all the wear spots (cleats, ladder, etc). Very nice quality for a good price. I'd recommend going local, and get a custom cover made.
